Policies and General Conditions
Discover our policies and terms and conditions to ensure a clear and transparent experience with White Coat Tutoring. Here you'll find information about our terms of use, privacy policies, and commitments to our customers.
1. Disclaimer Regarding Outcomes
Our services are designed to provide supplementary educational support based on clear, effective methods. We are committed to helping you deepen your understanding of course material through personalized tools, strategies, and guidance.
However, we do not guarantee success in any particular test or course. Academic progress depends primarily on the student’s dedication and effort. Our role is to create the best possible conditions for that success.
2. Affiliation
White Coat Tutoring is an independent organization with no affiliation to any secondary school, CEGEP, or university. We do not issue degrees, certificates, or official accreditations. Our services are grounded in the academic expertise, experience, and subject-matter knowledge of our tutors.
3. Refund & Cancellation Policy
We understand that unexpected events can occur, so our cancellation policy is designed to be fair and transparent:
-
Advance Cancellation (≥ 6–12 hours notice): Fully refundable or reschedulable at your discretion.
-
Late Cancellation (< 6 hours notice): May incur a penalty of $10–$25, depending on the type of session, after repeated late cancellations.
-
No-Show: Treated as a late cancellation; fees apply, and repeated no-shows may result in restricted access to our services.
We encourage clear and timely communication with your tutor to avoid any issues.
4. Tutor Certification
Although our tutors are highly qualified university students—often studying medicine, sciences, law, engineering, or education—they are not provincially certified teachers unless explicitly stated. They are selected for their academic excellence, ability to explain complex topics, and strong pedagogical skills. Our services are intended to complement formal schooling, not replace it.
5. Professional/Medical Disclaimer (“White Coat”)
The name “White Coat” reflects our tutors’ academic ambitions and career paths (particularly in medicine and other professional fields). However, White Coat Tutoring does not provide medical, psychological, therapeutic, legal, or other professional advice. All discussions are strictly educational; any professional-style conversation is for intellectual enrichment only and should not be construed as professional advice.
6. Privacy & Data Protection
Protecting your privacy is a top priority. All personal and academic information shared with White Coat Tutoring—student records, contact details, session content—is treated as strictly confidential and used solely to deliver our tutoring services. We comply with applicable Canadian privacy laws, including PIPEDA. We do not sell, share, or disclose your data to third parties without your explicit consent, except as legally required.
7. Online Platform Usage
For online sessions, it is the student’s or guardian’s responsibility to ensure a stable internet connection, a working microphone and camera, and a compatible device (laptop, tablet, etc.) for platforms such as Zoom or Google Meet. White Coat Tutoring cannot be held liable for interruptions caused by client-side technical issues. If a session is cut short due to technical problems beyond our control, refunds or make-up sessions are not guaranteed unless otherwise stated in our cancellation policy.
